General Classes

Beginners Courses (6 weeks)
The classes assume no previous experience of yoga and are suitable for the complete beginner, those people who prefer a slower more basic class, or those returning to the practice after a long break. Based loosely on the Sivananda approach to yoga, students work through a portfolio of about 20 asanas or yoga postures over the course duration. Breath control is taught through basic pranayama techniques and each class finishes with a ten minute final relaxation.

Improvers Courses (6 weeks)
These classes assume an understanding of basic asana and pranayama work. They are designed for people who have completed a beginner’s course already and are looking to deepen their understanding and practice of hatha yoga.
The instruction looks at interesting variations of asanas and widens the portfolio of body and breath work. Dynamic flowing practice is introduced, so as to link the asanas together, and imaginative self expression is encouraged.

Ashtanga Primary Series. (Talk through Class)
“99% practice, 1% theory”
This is a powerful and dynamic yoga practice. It is suitable for those looking for an aerobic and strengthening class, which will dramatically improve flexibility, overall stamina and fitness levels. It is particularly suited to sportsmen and women. The series of asanas are choreographed and learnt as a set sequence, which flows into a seamless yoga routine synchronized with the breath.
It is recommended that students of this class have attended a beginner’s workshop prior to signing up for the course.

Private Tuition

Private one to one classes, small groups and one off personal workshops can be booked. These allow a specialized program to be developed which is tailored to an individuals or groups needs.

Yoga for Children

Kids love Yoga.
Fire their imagination, build their confidence, improve their concentration and create physical awareness. Emma currently teaches yoga to primary school age children. Using stories the children move through imaginary yoga adventures. Gentle awareness is brought to their breath and a subtle awareness of their feeling of well being is explored as they move in and out of their favourite yoga asanas.

Ashtanga Yoga for Sport

Ashtanga yoga complements every sport training program. This dynamic and aerobic form of yoga, is characterized by breath synchronized movements, which link one pose to the next in a choreographed sequence.
Nearly every form of intensively practiced sport causes physical imbalances. Ashtanga counteracts muscular imbalances inherent in one-sided sports and training, and as such, reduces the risk of injury. The yoga dramatically improves concentration, relaxation skills and increases vitality and stamina.
Emma provides team or individual training and also the option of intensive workshops which offer a break from the usual training routine. School groups greatly benefit from this practice.

Yoga for Pregnancy

Emma has trained with “Birthlight” and now runs specialist pre/post natal classes.
As a mother of two, Emma knows that pregnancy can be both a magical and an anxious time. A regular yoga practice deepens the physical experience, bringing a greater awareness and connection to your body and baby. Relaxation and breathing techniques are powerful tools in preparing for birth and motherhood.
